The 10 Best Reusable Water Bottles (2018 Edition)

Selecting a reusable water bottle is no easy task.

We don’t mean that lightly, either. If you’ve read this blog from the beginning, then you know to steer clear of reusable plastic bottles (as well as metal ones with plastic liners). After that, the world of reusable bottles is your oyster.

You may opt for an aluminum bottle, which is lightweight but can dent easily. Copper bottles are more durable, but they may get metal deposits after several uses. Glass bottles are another great option, but you must be careful not to drop them. Finally, there’s stainless steel, a durable material that sometimes afflicts bottle drinkers with a metallic aftertaste. You can even get a smart water bottle that’s built with tech for better hydration!

Each of the above bottle types has its own pros and cons. Even if you choose one material, you then have to decide: smart bottle or no? Straws or no straws? What kind of lid? What size?

There are tons and tons of reusable water bottles on the market for just about any type of taste and budget. We’ve compiled a list of 10 of the best ones for 2018. No matter what type of reusable water bottle you may have in mind, we’re sure you can find a great one here.

1. H2OPal Smart Water Bottle Hydration Tracker

Price: $99

You know you should be drinking at least eight glasses of water a day. You try, you really do, but then life gets in the way. To get your water consumption back on track, you might consider a smart option like the H2OPal. This is a smart reusable water bottle and hydration tracker

.

It’s made primarily of a borosilicate glass. This high-grade glass can hold 18.6 ounces or 550 millimeters of water. Brightly-colored silicone bands at the top and bottom of the borosilicate glass safeguard the bottle and could prevent breakage. There’s also a stainless steel lid included.

Of course, without its tracker attachment, the H2OPal is just a cool-looking water bottle, nothing more. The H2OPal Hydration Tracker is three inches and has a diameter of 7.5 centimeters. It screws into the bottle manually.

To make use of H2OPal, you should download the free app.  If you have Fitbit, H2OPal even syncs with it. Otherwise, you can open the app on your Amazon Alexa or your Apple Watch.

When you drink water in your H2OPal, an internal battery manages every sip you take. You set your hydration goal for the day and the app will tell you how close you are to getting there. It even sends you little motivational messages to keep you going.

The H2OPal comes in two colors: pink-yellow and the standard black-blue.

Although it’s quite expensive, because it’s a smart device, we think the price for H2OPal is warranted. It’s never been so easy to stay adequately hydrated and get your eight glasses a day.

2. Hydro Flask

Price: Up to $50

Hydro Flask produces bottles and drinking vessels for all sorts of occasions, such as food containers, cups for spirits, wine bottles, beer bottles, coffee tumblers, and the more standard water bottles. It’s the latter we’re going to focus on.

Their water bottles come in a myriad of sizes and colors. Some are designed just for kids and can hold 12 ounces. These bottles even have wide mouths to accommodate children who want to stay hydrated.

For adults, you can get 18 ounces, 21 ounces, 32 ounces, 40 ounces, and even 60-ounce bottles. Some come with standard mouth sizes while others have wider mouths. Straws are another option, as are sports caps. If you’re not a fan of the type of lid you bought, you can always invest in a Hydro Flip lid or a wide-mouth straw lid right on Hydro Flask’s website.

Let’s take a look at the standard-mouth 24-ounce bottle. It, like many other Hydro Flask bottles, comes equipped with their TempShield double-walled vacuum insulation. You can expect your drink to be just as frosty 24 hours later as it was when you first filled it. That same TempShield is also great for warding off condensation on your bottle. That means no more slippery bottles that fall out of your hands and onto the ground.

With no phthalates and no BPAs, drinking water has never been easier or safer. All Hydro Flask bottles are made of stainless steel, specifically 18/8 pro-grade steel. This is some of the longest-lasting stuff.

Oh, and then there are the colors. Wow, are there a lot of colors to choose from. Just for the 24-ounce bottle alone, you can select from hues like:

  • Olive (green)
  • Blueberry (bright blue)
  • Flamingo (bubblegum pink)
  • Lemon (vivid yellow)
  • Black
  • White
  • Graphite (a dark grayish black)
  • Cobalt (a very deep, rich dark blue)
  • Pacific (teal blue)
  • Mint (a blue-green)
  • Lava (bright red)

HydroFlex promises a Lifetime Warranty on its bottles.

3. Klean Kanteen

Price: Up to $59.95

If you’re looking for a metal bottle that won’t break the bank, Klean Kanteen is a great pick. You can get their 18-ounce bottle for just $18.95. That’s not a bad value at all!

Like HydroFlex, all Klean Kanteen bottles are made of durable stainless steel. They also come in a rainbow of colors and tons of sizes. There’s the 18-ouncer we just mentioned, but other sizes include 20 ounces, 27 ounces, 32 ounces, 40 ounces, all the way to 64 ounces.

You can also buy a bottle with a loop cap for easy handling, a wide mouth for fast drinking, and insulation for better cold and heat retention. Tumblers are available as well, as are food canisters (in eight ounces and 16 ounces), and steel cups and pints. There’s even a five-ounce stainless steel baby bottle for $19.95!

Let’s talk about the Insulated Classic, which is a standard 32 ounces. It promises up to 90 hours of icy water goodness as well as 24 hours of lasting beverage warmth. It’s built with Klean Kanteen’s own version of double-walled vacuum insulation, which is known as Climate Lock. That’s how you get the retaining coldness or warmth in your bottle.

One of the standout features that makes Klean Kanteen bottles a very viable alternative to Hydro Flask is their Klean Koat. This powder coat finish won’t chip, fade, or become damaged with use. It’s also environmentally friendly, which sticks within Klean Kanteen’s whole MO.

The 32-ounce Insulated Classic comes with a Loop Cap (which is designed to be leak-proof), but you can also order a bamboo cap or a sports cap replacement without stressing about fit. The bottle boasts rounded corners and an electropolished interior for a beautiful look inside and out. With its 18/8 stainless steel base, you can count on this bottle to last.

In the case of the Insulated Classic, you can select from colors like matte Shale Black, Mineral Red (crimson), Coastal Waters (a bright dark blue), Brushed Stainless (silver), and Sea Crest (a light blue).

Klean Kanteen backs up its bottles with its Strong as Steel guarantee, which is good for life.

4. MiiR

Price: Up to $29.95

With more than just reusable water bottles on the table, you can also count on MiiR if you need to buy beer pints or growlers, coffee tumblers, food containers, and other cups and growlers.

They have only three water bottle sizes: their 27-ouncers for $19.95, their 23-ounce vacuum-insulated bottles for $29.95, and their wide-mouthed bottles for $27.95. We’ll discuss the 23-ouncer.

The sleek look of MiiR’s bottles is one major selling point. The bottle also comes with a Hardshell Powder Coat that will protect the colorful bottle’s exterior. The stainless steel used to make MiiR’s vacuum-insulated bottle is 18/8 medical-grade. That means you can wave goodbye to that unwanted metal aftertaste.

The angular Perfect Seal lid impresses with its almost artistic design. If you care more about functionality than looks, you’ll appreciate how the Perfect Seal lid is leak-proof.

All MiiR reusable water bottles and other stainless steel products have no traces of BPAs. They’re sweat-proof as well for easy and reliable handling every time. The Thermo 3D Double Wall Vacuum Insulation technology promises longer heat and warmth retention. For hot liquids, you get 12 hours of warmth. If it’s cold beverages you prefer, then you can expect frostiness for more than a day.

If you’re into colors, then MiiR’s choices probably won’t impress you much. You can only select from a stainless steel hue, bright blue, white, and black. That’s pretty much the only downside.

All MiiR products are protected under their Lifetime Guarantee Warranty.

5. Lifefactory

Price: Up to $29.99

Moving away from stainless steel bottles, Lifefactory produces glass drinking products. We say drinking products, because in addition to reusable water bottles, you can also get bottles for children and babies, food storage containers, and other glassware and accessories.

Their line of reusable water bottles has a uniform look, with the difference being the size of the bottle itself. All of them are cheap, as the average price for a Lifefactory bottle is $30.

Water bottle sizes start at 12 ounces and are 22 ounces at their biggest. Some have a classic cap while others have a straw cap. All bottles boast Lifefactory’s pretty silicone sleeve, which protects the bottle. These sleeves come in almost any color imaginable.

Their 16-ounce glass bottle with a classic cap and silicone sleeve retails for $19.99. Like you would expect with glass, there are no phthalates or BPAs in this bottle. In fact, the FDA gave its stamp of approval on every last material that goes into Lifefactory’s bottles.

The cap is made of polypropylene and screws on tight. It comes with a clip-on handle for attaching the bottle to a bag.

The entire water bottle is okay to clean in a dishwasher, but you should take the cap off and put it on your dishwasher’s top rack. The silicone sleeve can be left intact during washing. Said sleeve is used to give you something to grip while drinking. After all, if you drop a glass bottle, it’s pretty much game over.

6. bkr

Price: Up to $60

Calling itself “the original best-loved glass water bottle,” bkr is another bottle we think you should have on your radar for 2018 and beyond.

Now, when you log onto their website, you may be confused, since you’ll see makeup products as well. bkr makes both.

Of course, we’re just going to talk about their water bottles, which make quite an impact. For instance, they have glass bottles with spiky sleeves known as the Prenup or the Bubbly. There’s also the one-liter pretty pink bottle called the Tutu.

One of the downsides to bkr’s bottles is that they’re small. The Prenup, which is our bkr bottle of choice, is a single-liter bottle. These are also bottles designed for women, so they’re not really unisex.

If you can get past all that, or if you’re looking for a reusable water bottle with a bit of sass, we think that bkr really delivers. The Prenup bottle is “inspired by the woman who leaves the room and makes the room feel like all the art left with her.” It’s a glass bottle with a silicone spiky sleeve. Of course, the spikes don’t hurt too much, since that’s what you’re supposed to hold onto as you drink your water.

The translucent plastic lid features a hook for easy transportation no matter where your adventures take you. The appealing coppery hue that bkr uses for the silicone is best described by them, as it’s an “opaque pale brushed filthy rich rose gold.”

One thing’s for certain: no one is ever going to mistake your water bottle for theirs.

7. YETI

Price: Up to $49.99

Getting back to stainless steel bottles, YETI is one of the best of the best brands around. Their Rambler reusable water bottles in particular are standouts. These insulated bottles are designed with 18/8 stainless steel that doubles as a tough water-resistant shell.

With bigger bottles topping out at around $50, this is a more expensive purchase, but it’s one you should have for years to come. No Rambler bottle is smaller than 18 ounces, which already explains the price somewhat. The bigger bottles are 26 or 36 ounces.

Let’s discuss one of the 36-ounce bottles. This Rambler is covered in YETI’s DuraCoat for longer-lasting color. With Over-the-Nose technology, the wide opening ensures fresher drinking every time. There’s also a Triplehaul cap meant for holding the bottle with three fingers. It’s designed not to leak.

Boasting double-walled vacuum insulation, the Rambler won’t shift temperatures. You can expect that your hot drinks or cold beverages will stay that way. That’s partly due to the kitchen-grade steel, which won’t ever rust or suffer puncture damage. The Rambler can even go in your dishwasher for fast, easy cleaning.

Another great feature is the No Sweat Design for less slippage. You can always order a new lid on YETI’s website if you’d prefer, giving you plenty of versatility. Speaking of versatility, let’s quickly touch on all the colors available for the Rambler. They include black, Brick Red, Seafoam (a pale, bright blue), white, navy, Camo, and stainless steel.

8. Simple Modern

Price: $24.99 and up

We haven’t yet talked about a reusable water bottle manufacturer that makes custom bottles, but that’s just one of the many perks of Simple Modern. If you’re someone who’s into prints and patterns, you’ll also greatly enjoy even their non-customized bottles.

Simple Modern products are for university students, so you know they’re not going to be very expensive. Even their biggest bottle, the Summit (which is 32 ounces but can be as big as 84 whopping ounces!) starts at $24.99.

The Wave is one of their most popular water bottles, and understandably so. This bottle is available at a reasonable range of sizes: nine ounces, 17 ounces, 25 ounces, or 34 ounces. The price is a static $16.99, which makes this one of the more inexpensive bottles on this list.

You’re not skimping on quality, either. The Wave, which is part of Simple Modern’s Fusion Collection, is absolutely gorgeous. It’s named such because it combines several stunning colors in one. The exterior is known to shine or sparkle.

Now let’s try to describe the colors and patterns there are to choose from since these are arguably the biggest selling point:

  • Daybreak, shimmery pink with a gradient that goes from light to dark
  • Bermuda Deep, a shimmery blue with a gradient that starts as a light teal blue and mixes into a darker blue
  • Tuxedo, a sparkly white-to-black hybrid
  • Admiral, a mostly dark blueish-gray bottle that has many more sparkles on the bottom half
  • Tropical Seas, a shimmery bottle with a light blue to purple gradient
  • Sweet Taffy, a sweet non-sparkly gradient that starts off as bubblegum pink but becomes pale baby blue
  • Sorbet, which is like Tropical Seas but reversed; the purple hue here is also more like lavender, and you get more sparkles
  • Pacific Dream, a non-shimmery pale blue with a gradient that becomes an oceanic, darker blue
  • Glacier Run, a sparkly, shiny bottle with hints of light blue, rich royal blue, and bright purple

9. Nomader

Price: $26.95

Collapsible bottles are handy for campers who are trying to conserve space, and Nomader is one of the biggest manufacturers. Their products also appeal to yoga practitioners, hikers, gym-goers, cyclists, and travelers who need to stay hydrated.

Sold in countries across the world, including Spain, Italy, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Canada, and the United States, the inexpensive Nomader is available on Amazon. The bottles can hold 740 milliliters or 25 ounces of water.

The bottle itself is made of food-grade, health-safe silicone, and rubber. There’s no phthalates, PVC, lead, BPS, or BPAs to worry about. This is true even though you can freeze the Nomader.

With a wide mouth, drinking from the Nomader is a breeze. There’s an included hygienic spout that will keep grime, germs, and bacteria out of the bottle. You also get a cap that fits firmly and won’t leak. This simple screw cap is patented by Nomader. It makes a seal when closed that’s airtight.

If you want to collapse the bottle, make sure it’s empty. Then, slip the hard frame up towards the bottle’s cap. Start rolling the rubber all the way up. The included carrying handle doubles as a clip to secure the bottle in place.

There are, as you would expect, many colors for all sensibilities. These include green, red, orange, white, lime, army green (a forest green), aqua, purple, neon pink, cool gray, and vibrant blue.

Nomader has a 100-percent satisfaction guarantee as well as a Lifetime Warranty on its collapsible bottles.

10. Glasstic

Price: Up to $19.99

If you’re worried about dropping your reusable glass bottle, then Glasstic is the one for you. This manufacturer touts its products as being shatterproof. At a base price of $19.99, why not buy one and find out for yourself?

Glasstic makes both simple, plain bottles and patterned ones for that extra flair. We’ll focus on one of the latter, specifically the Tribal YY Glass Water Bottle in white. This 16-ounce bottle comes with a flip cap.

All Glasstic bottles are free of toxins. With no plastic components, you don’t have to worry about cadmium, lead, or BPAs, either.

You’d be surprised, but you can actually wash your Glasstic bottle in the dishwasher. However, the bottles with the patterned prints should not go in the dishwasher. Instead, you should clean them by hand.

The bottle itself includes a wide mouth and a flip cap lid. Said lid even locks in place so it never moves and your drink never leaks out all over you. The lid also has a handle for easy transportation.

Glasstic offers a Lifetime Parts Replacement Program for free.

Conclusion

Whether you prefer glass, stainless steel, or even collapsible water bottles, we think one (or more!) of the reusable bottles above should be perfect for your daily routine. Which bottle is your favorite? Let us know in the comments!
